Google Caffeine Update

Posted on 2nd December 2009 by admin in News, google | Tags: , , | Comments (2)

Google has been working on some new technology that improves indexing infrastructure. They named it Caffeine. The aim is to make Google faster, more accurate and to give the ability to index more pages.

Currently the update is live only in one datacenter and in January 2010 it should go live on all of them.

Speed is now important.
A new factor in ranking will be the time it takes for a site to load, this means both hosting and site optimization will count.

This is a little strange, because Googlebot crawls from US, so websites that are hosted in Europe or Asia will generally take more time to respond than those nearby in US. The closer you will be to Google, the better ranking? Does this means Google wants to enter the Hosting Business? It could be a good plan, their customers will have faster sites, so they will be better ranked so competition will have to do the same.

Anyway, we’ll find out soon…

Blogging by SMS and Email

Posted on 23rd April 2009 by admin in google | Tags: , , , | Comments (0)

From about a month ago Google offers an easy way to link up your phone with one or more of your Blogger blogs as part of its Blogger in Draft program. It provides the settings to post to an exact blog through your telephone or email next to each blog’s topic inside of the dashboard using mini and simple icons. These changes are now available live to everyone worldwide.

SMS or MMS message posting can be set up in less than one minute if you can type fast on your phone, and you don’t need to leave the dashboard to do it, you just have to insert two sets of settings before posting messages.

While blogging by SMS and Email is not a new concept, Google wants to make it easier and just by placing the small icons and the setup tools right there in front of you can be a very good start.
